Standup ’69 is a trio from Rotterdam (Netherlands), who decided to use heavy guitar sounds and a bass synth instead of the traditional bass guitar. Inspired by bands like the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, PJ Harvey, Queens Of The Stone Age and DZ Deathrays, they create a sound that’s best described as Noisy Indie Space Rock.
Since the summer of 2010, vocalist Emmy Kadee and guitarist Willem-Pieter Zoutendijk have been working on the Standup ’69 sound. At the end of 2012, drummer Bruno Vogel joined the band and the MicroKorg synth became a permanent element of their thrilling live performances. The trio creates a trippy, sexy and energetic live show that grabs the attention of the audience and takes them on a wild ride. After a lot of performing, experimenting and recording, they released their first 7-track EP in October of 2014.
In 2015 they played 30 shows and crossed the Dutch borders on their first UK tour. The band is steadily building up a reputation by winning the Eendrachtsfestival Rotterdam twice, winning the public prize in the 'Grote Prijs van Rotterdam' and by receiving a nomination for a Rotterdam Music Award for the 'Not Like Home' single that was released in September.
Standup '69 released their second EP '5X69' on the 18th of March 2016 in WORM (Rotterdam) with a whole new live experience with stunning visuals. Soon afterwards they were selected for the Popronde 2016 and expanded their horizons with tours through Germany and the UK.
As of now the trio is writing and recording new material in the studio, more news soon!
